Are you coming to the gym on what you think is a regular basis and seeing little or no change in your body? Well there are a few possible reasons for that. First, examine your diet because it is almost impossible to exercise your way around a bad diet. So overeating or indulging too much or having too much alcohol can derail even the best workout plan. All things in moderation.
Next you need to determine if you are actually working hard enough while you are at the gym. If you are not sweating or do not have moments in the cardio portion of your workout where you have to work on your breathing, then you probably aren’t. Plain and simple. Coming to the gym and not working hard is not going to do much for you. A slow walk, peddling with little or no resistance and using the elliptical on too low of a level and not moving fast enough do not cut it! Get moving! Make the time you spend in the gym count. Getting ready to work out, getting the machines set up and visiting with your friends does not count. Use the timer on the machine to determine your cardio time.
The next reason you may not be getting all that you can out of your gym workout is a failure to do any strength training. Also not working out with heavy weights and not doing the exercises correctly can have an impact on your body. In order to stimulate the bone, you must lift HEAVY WEIGHTS. You need to lift 70% of your 1-rep maximum. What does this mean? In simple terms, your muscle should be exhausted after 8-12 reps. If you can do 40 reps, you are WASTING YOUR TIME!!
