So I finished week one of my second whole 30 and for you who like code, I am currently on R2D8. Here are my words of wisdom or things I have learned so far while doing Whole 30.
- Really consider READING THE BOOKS! I read both “It Starts with Food” and the Whole 30 Book LONG BEFORE I ever did a round and there is a lot of info in there and especially if you like to know WHY and sometime HOW — these are great resources so while you don’t NEED to read them to do the program, I seriously suggest it, you will just be more prepared and less overwhelmed.
- Plan at least a few meals ahead. You know you are busy and as your week gets going and you get more tired, you will be less inclined to make something special.
- Keep it simple for a lot of meals. If you like eggs, then do that for breakfast. You can make a Frittata or a crustless quiche (remember the rules, no dairy, no gluten, etc) and eat that for several breakfasts. Make your life easier, this is not supposed to be a burden.
- Find a way to keep some of your life the same. I love my morning coffee and I already used Almond Milk in it so it was already compliant. You may have to drop your sugar and switch out your dairy products but you can still enjoy coffee or tea so try to enjoy some things you already do if you can.
- People on social media are rude and judgemental – I rarely engage on social media so I haven’t been doing much of that but I do find that there are an overabundance of haters and negative people so if you are starting Whole30, I would suggest you proceed into some of the social media groups WITH CAUTION. They can be greatly inspiring but they can also be frustrating so do you need recipes that badly? Join groups at your own risk, they may be great for you, but they may also kill your motivation and make you feel like you are doing it all wrong. (and remember if you are not getting something positive from your social media groups — you can quit that too 🙂
Those are my Week One thoughts. I notice my headaches were really bad early in the week and now they are gone so hoping they will stay gone 🙂
Best of Health!!!
